Alicia is a partner at Adams & Adams in the Trade Marks Department and has extensive practical experience, and specialises, in all aspects of trade mark registration and portfolio management, including clearance, availability, registrability and infringement searches, trade mark prosecution, recordal and maintenance matters in South Africa and all African countries, as well as various other territories throughout the world. She represents high profile South African and international clients in their trade mark matters throughout various territories. Alicia has also negotiated successful IP related agreements on behalf of her clients in various industries ranging from banking, consumer goods, electronics, and information technology, and successfully facilitated IP related Due Diligence investigations as part of commercial transactions. Alicia has been involved with a number of successful outcomes before the Registrar of Trade Marks, The Companies Tribunal, The Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa, The Supreme Court of Appeal, as well as rulings issued by the Advertising regulatory Board and The South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL) as an accredited dispute resolution provider in terms of the .za Alternate Dispute Resolution Regulations.

Alicia is a fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property and is a member of the South African Trade Mark Law Committee. She also currently serves on the firm’s Marketing and Digital Marketing committees. Alicia has written numerous articles on a wide range of IP related topics in South Africa and published articles in several publications including Mondaq, MangingIP, Without Prejudice, Business Law & Tax Review and Winelands Magazine. She has also presented talks on IP at many conferences and universities and is a guest lecturer at the University of Pretoria’s IP Centre (LLB and LLM courses).
